Jewelry Care

We work with a variety of natural gemstones and beads including druzy, agate, quartz, turquoise, recycled glass beads and many more. Below are some guidelines to help you care for your Kua Designs jewelry.

Handle your natural gemstones with care. Avoid knocking or dropping your stone as they are fragile and can easily crack or break.

To clean your natural gemstones, simply wipe them clean with a soft dry cloth. Do not immerse in harsh chemicals, or use ultrasonic cleaners.

Always remove your jewelry before using any product that contains bleach.  Bleach can cause gold and other metal alloys to breakdown leaving the metal irreparably damaged. Besides chlorine bleach, denatured alcohol, turpentine, acetone, and ammonia can also cause harm.  These chemicals can dull or even pit the surface of your gemstones, gold filled chain and other metals in general.

Remove your jewelry before showering, swimming or bathing in hot tubs. Avoid exposing jewelry to shampoo or other beauty care products like hair spray, hair dyes, spray tan, lotions or perfumes.

Store your jewelry in a safe place like a pouch, box or lined jewelry case.

Leather Care

Keep you Kua Designs leather bags in a cool dry place when not in use. Mildew can deteriorate leather if it is allowed to grow on it. Don’t leave your items in a humid or wet basement – this could promote the growth of mildew.

Don’t keep your leather in plastic either. Removing all air supply from the leather is bad for the material.

If you find that your leather is starting to dry out or crack it may be time to moisturize the material by applying some leather conditioner/cream. When applying the cream, make sure you avoid the parts of the bag that are not made out of leather.

Store your leather purse in a dust bag or natural-fabric pillowcase.

Keep cosmetics inside a pouch. Cap all pens and anything that leaks. Get a case to protect the leather and keep small items from spilling or damaging the fabric.

Avoid cleaning products with alcohol, turpentine or other mineral spirits as they will discolor and dry out leather.

Never allow water to soak into your bag. If the bag gets wet, do not use a hair dryer on it. Instead, absorb as much water as possible with a thick microfiber hand towel and allow the bag to air dry. Then, condition it again and store it.
