Meet Ruby Buah:
Creative force. Community builder. Joyful disruptor.
Ruby Buah is the founder of KUA, a brand rooted in authenticity, creativity, and purpose.
What began with a single jewelry-making class grew into something more — a calling to create pieces that feel as good as they look, and a space where women feel seen, confident, and connected.
Though she began her career as a Financial Analyst, Ruby always felt drawn to something more creative. She eventually traded spreadsheets for sketchbooks and never looked back.
Today, she blends business insight with soulful design to build Kua — a fashion house in Accra, Ghana known for its refined, African-inspired pieces for women and children.
Kua was named after her mother and reflects the grounded, modern African woman — authentic, assured, and rooted in heritage.
Through Kua, Ruby is building more than a brand. She is creating opportunities, celebrating craftsmanship, and bringing people together through thoughtful design.
From the U.S. to Ghana: Bringing Kua Home
Ruby holds a degree in Business Administration from Wesleyan College in Georgia, USA, and a degree in Jewelry Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
When she’s not designing or dreaming up what’s next, you’ll find Ruby enjoying slow moments with family, laughing with friends, and soaking up the joy of motherhood with her two children and supportive husband.
The Essence of Kua
Kua stands for Keeping Us Authentic — a quiet reminder to stay true to who we are and where we come from.
It shapes how we design, how we create, and how we show up.
Each piece reflects a balance of heritage and modernity — crafted with intention, rooted in culture, and made to be worn with ease.
We focus on quality materials, thoughtful details, and a design process that honors both craftsmanship and community.
At its core, Kua is about creating pieces that feel as good as they look — and a brand that feels just as meaningful to be part of.
Empowering Through Design
At Kua, design is not separate from impact. It’s part of how we work.
Through our process, we create opportunities for artisans, including visually impaired makers, equipping them with skills that support independence and long-term growth.
It’s a quieter part of what we do, but an important one — building a brand that not only creates beautifully, but also creates meaningfully.
Building Kua, intentionally
At Kua, growth has never been about scale alone. It’s about staying rooted in what matters — thoughtful design, meaningful craftsmanship, and a connection to where we come from.
Whether it’s a handbag, a piece of jewelry, or something you reach for every day, each piece is created with intention and made to last beyond the moment.
What’s Next for Kua?
As Kua continues to evolve, the focus remains the same — creating with care, telling stories through design, and building something that lasts.
