FOUNDER
Ruby Buah - Founder & Creative Director of Kua Designs
Meet Ruby: Creative force. Community builder. Joyful disruptor.
Ruby believes in turning the ordinary into the extraordinary—and she’s been doing just that since a jewelry-making class first sparked what would become her life’s creative calling. What some might call a lucky break, Ruby sees as destiny. A beautiful intersection of purpose, passion, and timing.
A proud Ghanaian woman rooted in authenticity and purpose, Ruby is big on sisterhood, joy, community, and of course—big hair. She’s that friend who always brings the sunshine, the plant mom who talks to her greens, and the podcast junkie who lights up at the sound of a powerful woman telling her story.
Though she started her career as a Financial Analyst (cue the classic “I did it for my parents” nod—hello, African upbringing!), her creative spirit couldn’t be contained. Ruby eventually traded spreadsheets for sketchbooks and never looked back. Today, she blends business savvy with soulful design to lead Kua Designs—a fashion house in Accra, Ghana known for its bold, African-inspired pieces for women and kids.
Kua was named after her mother and is a celebration of the modern African woman—authentic, stylish, and rooted in heritage. Through Kua, Ruby champions ethical fashion, community upliftment, and meaningful design. Her work creates opportunities for artisans, especially women, and offers a global audience a vibrant, wearable connection to Africa.
When she’s not designing or dreaming up her next idea, you’ll find Ruby laughing with family, enjoying slow moments with friends, or soaking up the magic of motherhood with her two joyful children and incredibly supportive husband.
Ruby holds a degree in Business Administration from Wesleyan College in Georgia, USA, and a degree in Jewelry Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Her journey is a vibrant reminder that when women choose to follow their hearts, the world gets brighter—and a lot more beautiful.
