In 2009, Ruby Buah made a daring leap—trading spreadsheets and financial statements for metals and fabrics. In other words, she went from Finance to Fashion, proving that creativity and business savvy can go hand in hand.

Her journey began years earlier in Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked as a Financial Analyst at Coca-Cola Enterprises. While numbers paid the bills, her creative spirit demanded more. So, in her spare time, she experimented with different forms of art. What started as a hobby in jewelry-making soon became a full-fledged business.

Three years in, Ruby took things up a notch—moving to New York to earn a degree in Jewelry Design at the renowned Fashion Institute of Technology. Unsurprisingly, her jewelry line quickly expanded to include handbags, and by 2015, she introduced a vibrant children’s clothing and accessories line. Two years later, Kua’s women’s clothing line was born. Today, her upscale boutique in Accra, Ghana, is a haven of cosmopolitan chic fused with deep Ghanaian heritage.

Ruby embraces every part of her creative journey—the glamorous and the not-so-glamorous. Each piece she designs is a reflection of her global experiences and her love for Ghana, paying homage to the rich culture that continues to inspire her.

Beyond Kua, Ruby is a wife, a mother, and a serial creative. If she’s not designing something beautiful, she’s probably making memories with her family, decorating a space (because why not?), or dreaming up her next big idea.
